Ahhhhhh here it comes!
Maggie and I have been collecting art for a few years now and we have decided that it is a better investment than the stock market or growth funds that have been steadily ruining our financial picture of the future.
So here we will share some things we have picked up along the road of life. Remember that the value of a piece of art is in the eye of the beholder. One mans riches are another mans junk or vice versa.
I spent a season working in a Wyland Gallery on Duval Street in Key West which makes me somewhat of an expert hehehehehehh.
We have quite an eclectic collection and we will be adding to it as we go along.
I would love to offer the full Wyland line but working out an arrangement with the Wyland Foundation is proving to be quite a challenge. I personally like Wylands work and am amazed at his undertakings. If I am correct he finished the 100th WALL in 2008. He had vowed in the beginning when he did the first wall in California that he would do 100 and by golly gee whiz
HE DUN IT!
Now his focus will be on creating life size marine sculptures. Oh Boy this outta prove interesting to say the least! I heard him say at a show that he is a sculture who paints for a living. What i found truly amazing about him is that h does all his work free hand. Life size portraits of humpback whales and bronze fountains of dolphins and everything is to scale. It is the GIFT he was given and he is giving the world back the truly mind bending experience of seeing the life size creatures that heloves so much.
ON WAYLAND'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY I HAPPENED TO BE WORKING AT THE WYLAND GALLERY ON DUVAL STREET IN KEY WEST(it was located right between two gay bars = nice) AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCURE THREE OF THE PROMOTIONAL PIECES THAT WERE BEING GIVEN OUT TO THOSE WHO MADE A PURCHASE AT ANY OF THE SHOWS. IT IS A TRILOGY DEPICTING THE HUMPBACK WHALES AT THEIR BREEDING GROUNDS IN HAWAII. THERE WERE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF THESE PRINTED. IT IS SIGNED IN THE PLATE(which means it is not hand signed but the signature comes thru when the art is printed) THE CENTER PIECE IS 14.75X10.75 AND THE SIDES ARE 7.25X10.75 THEY ARE MEANT TO BE MOUNTED IN ONE LARGE FRAME WITH A SEPARATION BETWEEN THE CENTER AND THE SIDES. THIS IS A GREAT ADDITION TO ANYONES WYLAND COLLECTION. IT IS ALSO A GREAT PIECE TO HOLD ON TO AND TAKE TO A WYLAND SHOW AND HAVE IT HAND SIGNED AND THE VALUE WILL GO UP TREMENDOUSLY. WYLAND IS NOW FOCUSING ON HIS SCULPTURE SO YOU PROBABLY WILL NOT SEE MANY OF THESE TYPE OF PROMOTIONAL PIECES COMING ALONG. I HAVE 3 AVAILABLE AND IF THEY DO NOT SELL I DO NOT CARE BECAUSE AS I SAID EARLIER WE ARE CHANGING OUR INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO FROM STOCKS AND BONDS TO ART AND REAL ESTATE.

There will be some other artists that we will try to get a hold of for our collection and for sale. Another favorite of mine is James Coleman, along with John Petri, Linda Le Kniff, Itzchak Tarkay, Anatole Kranyansky and of course Guy Harvey!
